The Pharmaceutical Management Science Association (PMSA) is a not-for-profit organization of over 4,000 analytics professionals. It has over 2,000 followers on LinkedIn. The mission of PMSA is to efficiently meet society's pharmaceutical needs through the use of management science.
PMSA has held an Annual Conference and a Symposium each year. The 2022 PMSA Fall Symposium aims to serve the needs of an analytical area that is underrepresented at the annual conference, with the goals of
  • Raise the knowledge level of the members through best practice sharing
  • Support the continued member development through training opportunities
  • Build connection among members through networking events
Forecasting will be the area of focus for the 2022 PMSA Fall Symposium. The conference will be one and half days long with a combination of training workshops and presentations. This is a great opportunity to have in depth engagement with attendees from the pharmaceutical industry.
We want to invite you to submit Forecasting related abstracts for this conference, which could include but not limited to the following.
  • Forecasting methodologies for pipeline and inline products, ex. modeling, simulation …
  • Data science applications in forecasting
  • Methodologies and data sources to anchor forecasting assumptions, ex. market research, analog selection, new data sources, patient population sizing
  • Gross to Net projection
  • Forecasting related applications, ex. resource allocation, scenario planning, investment optimization…
  • Forecasting management and communication
  • Forecasting tools
You are invited to submit an abstract (Word document or PowerPoint) for Training Workshops or Speaker Presentations, which are expected to focus on knowledge/methodology sharing and be “non-selling” in nature.
Each training workshop is expected to be 1.5 – 2 hours long. However, we are also open to up to 3-hour long workshop with demonstrated value. The abstract should
  • Clearly outlines the proposed agenda for the training session
  • Describes the technical approach for the hands-on component and/or proposed case studies to be reviewed
Participants can be asked to bring their laptops for the training. The trainer is expected to provide any special software needed for the training.

Each speaker presentation is expected to be 45 minutes long with 10-15 mins additional time for Q&A
  • Include clear problem statement, solution/methodology, data sources, and impact demonstration.
  • Avoid "black box" techniques that cannot be applied independently by participants.

The PMSA Professional Development Committee will review the submissions and select the abstracts to be presented at the Fall Symposium. During the month prior to the Symposium, selected speakers will need to provide a draft copy of their presentation for final review and approval. Up to two speakers per Training Workshop and one speaker per Speaker Presentation will be entitled to complimentary symposium registration. Travel and hotel accommodations are the responsibility of the presenters.
Thank you in advance for your submission!
