Valerie Alleger

Data Science & Advanced Analytics, Bayer Pharmaceuticals

Valerie is a Global Advanced Analytics Lead, Analytics Translator and Strategic Advisor at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Based in Basel, she leads Advanced Analytics initiatives for Therapeutic Areas, in close collaboration with the regional and local teams. She pioneers and develops analytics solutions using machine learning, to bring innovation to patients, HCPs and improve the effectiveness of Bayer Marketing and Sales activities.

Valerie has prior extensive experience in Marketing and Sales roles within Bayer Group in France, including traditional Insights and Analytics, spanning from Market Analysis to Sales Force Effectiveness. She was selected for an international assignment in 2016 in Leverkusen (Bayer Corporate HQ) to join the Corporate Data Science team and act as a change manager, bringing the Integrated Multi-Channel Marketing data, reporting and analytics to life in both Germany and France.

Valerie holds an Engineer degree and MSc in Biology and Life Sciences from AgroParisTech.


Anne Bichteler

Chief Product Officer, Semalytix, GmbH

Anne Bichteler heads the product office at Semalytix, focused exclusively on machine reading solutions for generating Real World Evidence to inform all stages of product development and commercialization. Semalytix’s products read text, however idiomatic, to estimate judgment, sentiment, awareness, needs, and their relations to medical entities (ontologies). Her expertise lies in applying Semalytix’s growing repertoire of analyzers for, e.g. disease forums, internal medical affairs reports, IQVIA channel dynamics data, and social media to answer Pharma clients’ most urgent intelligence questions.

Before joining Semalytix in 2018, she specialized in data science, biostatistics, population reference modeling, PBPK modeling, etc. in the Pharma domain, most recently in applied semantic enrichment towards drug discovery. She relies on 10 years in software product delivery, scaling a start-up thin-client insurance administration system to one of the largest cloud-hosted solutions globally.

Anne holds a PhD in Human Ecology from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.


Jason Carlin

Executive Advisory Council, PMSA

Previously, Jason supported the Product Analytics team for Pharma and Sandoz at Novartis.

Prior to joining Novartis, Jason spent 4 years at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in various roles including Deputy Director of Sales Analytics, providing resident expertise and thought leadership in advanced analytics and leading sales force design from evaluating data assets to segmentation, predictive analytics, customer valuation, promotion response, sales force size & structure to creating call plans and monitoring. Another role at Bayer was Deputy Director, Reporting Powerhouse, where Jason led the Reporting Powerhouse team to empower actionable insights across the commercial organization. Jason developed and launched the first online reporting dashboard at Bayer encompassing Sales, Marketing and Managed Markets across 10 brands, 200 home-office personnel and 1,000 field personnel, and transformed Bayer Pharmaceuticals from an organization with fragmented redundant conflicting reports to a clear structured consolidated single-version-of-truth. Jason’s first role at Bayer was Deputy Director of Management Science, Oncology.

Prior to joining Bayer, Jason spent a few years with Eisai Pharmaceuticals in Management Science and a few years with ZS Associates.

Jason holds a Masters of Engineering in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering with minors in Math and Sales Engineering from the University of Florida.


Ben Collins

Global Forecasting Manager, Boehringer Ingelheim

Ben Collins is the Global Forecasting Manager within the Analytics and Insights department at Boehringer Ingelheim. In this role, he has five years’ experience of exploring the capabilities of machine learning and natural language processing in commercial analytics. During this time, he has led around 15 projects that aim to help Boehringer Ingelheim understand the voice of the customer at speed and scale using unstructured text as a primary source. He is also the lead for a global project that aims to accelerate and implement the use of this novel technology across the commercial organization.


Alex Davidson

Associate Partner, McKinsey & Company

Alex is an Associate Partner in McKinsey’s London office. He has extensive experience in analytics across the pharmaceuticals value chain, and co-leads McKinsey’s Real World Evidence Analytics work. Alex has lead 10+ use cases in RWE advanced analytics across therapeutic areas, and also advises clients on digital and analytics strategy, transformations, capability building, and platform infrastructure. Alex is also a leader of McKinsey’s Private Equity practice where he serves clients across the investment cycle focusing on Healthcare technology, and is a leader of the McKinsey HealthTech network, a community of 100+ startups in the healthcare space. Alex holds a BSc Biology from University College London and a PhD in Chromosome and Developmental Biology from Oxford University.


Marco Giannitrapani

AI & Predictive Analytics, Novartis

Marco Giannitrapani is leading the AI & Predictive Analytics team that focus on Data Science applications in finance for Novartis worldwide. Marco has previously covered other roles as Deputy Director of Advanced Analytics for Bayer Pharma, Global Business Planning & Analysis Manager for Novartis Pharma, SFE/CRM/BI Head in Novartis Spain, Analytics Director for Laureate International Universities, as well as Statistician in companies like Shell and Royal & Sun Alliance. Marco holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Glasgow (UK), an MBA from IESE Business School (Spain) and a MSc in Statistics and Economics from University of Palermo (Italy).


Karl Goossens

Associate Partner, QuantumBlack

Karl is an Associate Partner at QuatumBlack, McKinsey’s advanced analytics unit, and is based in Madrid. He leads QuantumBlack’s cross-functional teams in Pharma across Real World Evidence, Clinical Development, Commercial and Support Functions. As such he focuses on leading clients through their analytics transformations ranging from creating analytics strategies, delivering use cases and organizational scale-up. Karl is passionate about continuously innovating the use of data and analytics to generate insights that improve performance as well as building client capabilities. Karl holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, and a MSc in Process Engineering from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich as well as an MBA from IESE in Barcelona.


Florian Gutzwiller

WorldWide Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Director, Novartis

Before joining Novartis, Florian has worked as a HEOR Manager at Amgen Switzerland. Before that he was a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Medicine / ECPM at the University of Basel and had previously worked in outcomes research in Swiss hospitals and in the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Zurich. During his many years in academia he developed expertise in a broad range of topics, including pharmacoeconomics, disease modelling, outcomes research. Florian received his M.D. from the Medical School, University of Basel and his Master of Public Health, Diploma from the Universities Basel, Berne, and Zurich.


Priyanka Halder

Manager, ZS Associates

Priyanka is a Decision Analytics Manager at ZS. She has over 10 years of experience in sales and market analytics projects for the pharmaceutical industry She specializes in forecasting and has a breadth of experience working across multiple therapy areas across 20+ pharma and biotech companies. Her experience includes use of statistical techniques, hypothesis testing, machine learning based models for demand forecasting as well as predictive optimization. She is also known for pushing the innovation quotient on forecasting through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning augmented with various new type of data sources. Priyanka holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.


Mario Müller

Associate Data Science Director, IQVIA

Mario is Associate Data Science Director, Advanced Analytics, at IQVIA specializing in two key areas:
  • Multi Channel Marketing: Impact quantification of various promotional activities on physician prescription behavior and optimization of promotional spent and target including optimal budget and next best customer, action, content.
  • Real World Evidence: Patient data analysis to predict the risk of (rare) diseases/events and clustering patient groups by their behavior and characteristics. Mario has a profound background in statistics, econometrics and machine learning as well as significant experience in application of econometric and machine learning methods with pharma big data environment.
Before joining IQVIA, Mario worked in a Data Science Team in Online Marketing where he was responsible for developing marketing attribution models and targeting for online advertising based on machine learning techniques. Mario holds a diploma in Social Sciences from the University of Mannheim, where he focused on Multivariate Statistics and Advertising Psychology.


Pini Ben-Or

Chief Science Officer

Pini currently oversees AI and analytic innovation at Aktana. He is an experienced technology leader who has spent much of his career focused on improving business decisions using advanced analytics, optimization, business intelligence, and machine learning. In addition to being an expert in data science and applying and data management technology algorithms to business problems, Pini enjoys and excels at building highly capable teams and nurturing a culture of innovation.

In Pini’s previous role as Global Head of Analytics at Actimize he helped transform the company from complete reliance on rule systems and expert models to using and successfully deploying globally fully agile machine-learning-based models for financial crime detection. Pini’s career has always been at the intersection of analytics, technology and business operations, with primary focus on marketing and risk management. He has built and lead analytics teams in various industries (consumer lending, publishing, advertising) and oversaw the deployment of hundreds of behavioral, predictive, and optimization models, bringing on major business improvements. Throughout his career Pini introduced analytics innovations in the applications of machine-learning as well as in data management, operations optimization, marketing mix and cross channel optimization, and business intelligence, and he has multiple patents and patents pending, most recently in the area of machine-learning on network graph data.

Pini has a BSc in Physics, Mathematics, and Philosophy from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a MA and MPhil in Philosophy from Columbia University in NY, where his research areas were Decision Theory, AI, and Philosophy of Physics.


PKS Prakash

Data Science Manager, ZS Associates

Prakash (PKS Prakash) is the lead data scientist in ZS' Bangalore office. He has over 13+ years of data science experience with a focus on healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and the e- commerce domain. PKS Prakash currently leads the advanced data science practice in patient analytics, customer centric marketing and forecasting at ZS. He has a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, U.S. and also pursued his second doctorate in engineering from the University of Warwick, U.K. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, U.S., and a bachelor’s degree from the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT), India. He has published widely in research areas of operational research & management, soft computing tools and advanced algorithms in leading journals such as IEEE- Trans, EJOR and IJPR among others. He co-authored “Algorithms and Data Structures using R” and “R Deep Learning Cookbook”, published by PACKT.


Igor Rudychev

Sr. Director of Hematology/Oncology Business Insights & Analytics, AstraZeneca

Igor has 25 years of analytics & insights experience and for the last 18 years he has been specializing in Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing Analytics, Business Insights, Market Research, Resource Allocation, Promotion Response, Sales Force Optimization, Brand Analytics, Patient-Level Data, and Forecasting.

Currently, Igor is responsible for Hematology/Oncology Business Insights, Market Research, Analytics, and Forecasting at AstraZeneca. Prior to joining AstraZeneca Igor was leading Samples Operations, Resource Allocation, Advanced Analytics, and Commercial Assessment & Forecasting at Pfizer. Before Pfizer, Igor was Vice President of Operations with Bayser, a Management Consulting firm in Chicago, where he provided strategic and analytical insights to the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies.

Igor has been published extensively in trade & peer review journals (including ASCO, WCLC, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, AMCP, MMM, PDT, DMT, Phys. Lett., Class. & Quant. Grav., and Nuclear Physics B).

Igor has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in Analytical Marketing & Analytical Finance and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics (Superstring Theory & Black Holes) from Texas A&M University.


Jessica Santos

Global Compliance and Quality Director, Health Division, Kantar Health

Jessica provides oversight and support across global offices in regulation, privacy, ethics and compliance. Jessica is responsible for maintaining, anticipating and coordinating all activities regarding compliance laws/regulations and quality framework on RWR (Real World Research) and MR (Market Research).

Background and experience: Jessica is an experienced statistician, analyst and methodologist. She gained her reputation through her publications and professional committee work in the industry. Jessica is a frequent speaker and contributor in major conferences. She has a PhD in Social Science and MRS fellowship.

Jessica is a member of BHBIA and EphMRA code of Ethics Committee, UK Research Ethics Committee, reviewer and chair of ISPOR Code of Conduct Committee.


Fabio Sergio

Regional Design Director, EALA

As Regional Design Director, Fabio helps Fjord push the boundaries of what design can do for business and society, with a special focus on expanding Fjord’s work and relevance in the health and wellness sector.

Fabio comes to Fjord with 20 years of experience across a wide spectrum of industries and sectors. Throughout his career, he has worked with global leaders such as Whirlpool, Vodafone, GE, HP, LGE, Swisscom, J&J, BBC, Novartis, Merck, Unicef, GSMA and WEF, exploring areas where emerging technologies can create new opportunities to advance human aspirations and business scenarios can be wrapped around people’s dreams and desires.

Prior to joining Fjord, Fabio was Vice President of design at frog, where he helped shape the firm’s Experience Strategy offering, and was the global head of its Social Impact practice.

Fabio is constantly looking for opportunities to challenge what is possible when facing complex, ambiguous challenges, and it’s not just Fjord that benefits from his curiosity, passion and expertise. Along with his studio work, he serves as a design educator and mentor to graduate and post-graduate students of the Politecnico di Milano, Domus Academy and the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, and is a frequent speaker at worldwide design and innovation events as well.

Outside of technology and design, Fabio’s passions include architecture, science fiction and graphic novels. He will also easily confess a longstanding addiction to LEGO, which in the last 10 years he’s succeed in convincing his wife it’s only for the benefit of their two little hurricanes.


Jean Patrick Tsang

President, Bayser

Jean-Patrick Tsang is the Founder and President of Bayser, a Chicago-based consulting firm dedicated to sales and marketing for pharmaceutical companies. JP is an expert in data strategy and advanced analytics. JP has published 25+ pieces, given 75+ talks at conferences, and completed 250+ projects. In a previous life, JP deployed Artificial Intelligence to automate the design of payloads for satellites. JP earned a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Grenoble University, advised 2 PhD students, and earned an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He was the recipient of the 2015 PMSA Lifetime Achievement Award.



Kilian Weiss

General Manager, Veeva Oncology

As general manager of Veeva Oncology Link, Kilian is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and customer success of Veeva´s Key Opinion Leader (KOL) oncology data and analytics platform.

Before joining Veeva, Kilian founded Mederi, a leading provider of global KOL data and services for life sciences companies. Veeva acquired Mederi in 2015 and Weiss joined the Veeva team to create the company’s first KOL data platform. He has worked with life sciences executives around the world to enhance collaboration between the industry and the scientific community.

In 2016, Weiss was named to the prestigious PharmaVOICE 100, which annually recognizes the top 100 most inspirational and influential people in the life sciences industry.


Agnieszka Wolk, PhD

Senior Director, Data Science, IQVIA

Agnieszka is Senior Director Data Science and she leads Advanced Analytics team in Europe.

Agnieszka has broad experience in analytics including statistical and econometric modeling, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Coupled with strong expertise in pharma data assets, Agnieszka has developed many innovative advanced analytics and AI/ML powered solutions in Commercial Effectiveness space including multi channel marketing optimization, physician/pharmacy/hospital/patient segmentation as well as Real World Evidence including patient persistence, usage by indication, identifying undiagnosed patients and disease progression.

Agnieszka holds M.Sc. in Economics from Poznan University of Economics, M.Sc. in Marketing from Tilburg University as well as Ph.D. in Economics from Frankfurt University.


David Wood

Principal, Axtria

David Wood brings more than 35 years of experience in mathematical modeling of business problems, with over 20 years in sales and marketing analysis for Life Sciences companies. At Axtria, David serves as a Senior Principal, with emphasis on projects in mathematical modeling of sales operations and multi-channel promotion analysis. In addition, David has done substantial work in the development of Yield Management for the commercial airline industry (at Sabre Decision Technologies), and has worked in finance, energy and natural resource economics issues.

David holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in Operations Research.



Jeff Wray

Director of Digital Insights, Decision Resources Group

Jeff leads DRG’s multichannel and digital insights research across ex-US markets, building survey-based and digital market research solutions for global pharma companies. Jeff has more than 8 years of experience in research, including 5 years dedicated specifically to research and consulting in the life sciences space. He manages DRG’s digital products and annual research, as well as scoping, executing, and implementing bespoke client engagements to address the specific strategic and/or tactical needs of marketers, brand teams, and other stakeholders.
